One of the questions I hear most often when talking with neighbors, whether it’s at a community meeting, on the beach, or in the grocery store, is this: “Why do you think you should be my mayor?”
It’s a fair question, and an important one. Choosing a mayor isn’t just about personality or politics. It’s about trust, leadership, and a vision for where we’re headed as a community.
I want to share my answer to that question by focusing on three things I believe Folly Beach needs in its next mayor: a proven problem solver, a strong communicator, and someone who can lead with balance and fairness.
Problem Solver
First, I’m a problem solver. I don’t just identify issues, I work to fix them. Whether it’s infrastructure, housing, or traffic, I dig into the data, listen to those affected, and bring forward real solutions that reflect the needs of our community.

Communicator
Second, I believe in open and honest communication. I show up, I listen, and I follow up. You deserve a mayor who keeps you informed and engaged every step of the way.
That’s why I am working closely with City staff on recommendations for the new city website, so it’s easier for residents to find information, access services, and interact directly with city employees. I will also hold regular office hours and monthly coffee events, giving every resident the chance to sit down, share concerns, and talk through the issues affecting our community.
Balanced Leadership
Third, I lead with balance. Folly Beach is like a three-legged stool: residents, businesses, and tourists. If one leg gets too much or too little weight, the whole thing tips. My job as mayor is to keep that balance steady by protecting our quality of life, supporting our local economy, and welcoming visitors in a way that respects the unique character of our community.
A balanced approach is especially important as I bring objectivity to the role. I am not a realtor, I am not a business owner, and I have no financial stake in short-term rentals or tourism revenue. I come with a commitment to fairness and long-term stability. I listen to all sides, weigh the impact of each decision, and work to keep Folly Beach livable, welcoming, and true to its character.
That’s the kind of leadership I offer. I don’t believe in quick fixes or loud politics; I believe in thoughtful, steady progress that puts Folly Beach first. Between now and Election Day, I want to hear from you. Let’s work together to keep Folly strong, vibrant, and welcoming for generations to come. On November 4th, I’d be honored to earn your trust, your support, and your vote.
