Two Candidates, Two Very Different Paths for the STR Cap

Protecting the integrity of the Cap is one of my top priorities.

Elton Culpepper has recently attempted to soften his stance on the Short-Term Rental Cap, but voters deserve clarity on this issue.

In today’s Post and Courier, he made his position plain. Culpepper explicitly states that “lifting the cap may be an option… It’s certainly not off the table.”

No matter how it’s packaged now, eliminating the cap or weakening it to the point that it can’t protect our neighborhoods is clearly on his agenda.

I’ve taken a different approach. The cap isn’t perfect, but it’s working. It preserves our community by keeping a healthy balance between residents and short-term rentals. I’ve been consistent in supporting the Cap, and I’ve always backed thoughtful, targeted amendments that improve fairness and clarity while preserving the balance our community voted for.

As we head into the runoff, voters should know exactly where each candidate stands. Folly’s future depends on protecting that balance, not undoing it.

Make your voice heard. Get out and vote this Tuesday.
