bizzell for folly beach city council

Chris Bizzell: Candidate for Folly Beach City Council

When my wife Stacy and I visited Folly Beach, we were immediately drawn to its unique and friendly community. While we loved the charm of Center Street and the beautiful beaches, it was the people that made us want to make Folly our home. As a candidate for City Council, it is my goal to work with all residents, city leaders, and businesses to enact balanced rules and regulations that promote livability and protect the fabric of our community.

  • Why am I running for City Council?: I want to be a voice for the residents of Folly Beach with a focus on community, balance, and livability. It is my hope that we can reduce division and work together to protect the special community that is Folly Beach.
  • Family: I am married and a father of two adult children.
  • Committed to the Community: Donate time to help maintain the Folly Civic Club and The Folly Current Websites
  • Currently, I mentor a 5th grade student at St Andrew’s School of Math and Science
  • I served on the YMCA Board of Directors and was Board Member of the Year
  • Volunteered for five years at the Greenville County Detention Center leading life skills lessons to incarcerated youth
  • Career: After earning my degree from Clemson University, I entered the textile sector with Milliken, eventually transitioning to our family’s chemical business. I had the privilege of working with my father for half a decade, and subsequently led the company for another five years after his passing before entrusting it to a new owner.

My professional path then pivoted to information technology, where I specialized in crafting database-driven solutions for both governmental agencies and private entities. Currently, I use my expertise to develop cutting-edge web and mobile solutions for a diverse clientele.

My wide range of experiences enable me to understand the challenges of working for yourself and running a small business and will facilitate my ability to offer balanced solutions to the issues facing Folly Beach.
