Chris Bizzell: Steady, Balanced Leadership for Folly Beach

When my wife Stacy and I first visited Folly Beach, we were immediately drawn to its unique and welcoming spirit. While the charm of Center Street and our beautiful beaches captured our hearts, it was the people who made us want to call Folly home.

As your candidate for Mayor, my goal is simple: to work with residents, city leaders, and businesses to keep Folly livable, vibrant, and true to its character. I believe in enacting balanced, common-sense rules that protect our community while allowing it to thrive.

Over my time serving Folly Beach, I’ve continued to work hard for our residents, listening to concerns, bringing people together, and turning ideas into results. I have built partnerships with neighbors, city staff, and outside experts to solve problems, preserve what makes Folly special, and position our city for future opportunities. Whether addressing livability issues, protecting the balance between residents and rentals, securing funding opportunities, or improving infrastructure, I’ve stayed focused on solutions that benefit the whole community.

My leadership style is grounded in communication, collaboration, and fairness. I’m not here to serve an agenda; I’m here to serve Folly Beach. With your support, we can protect the island we love, strengthen our resilience to future challenges, and keep our community moving forward with balance and unity.

Personal Profile

I am married and the proud father of two adult children. Community involvement has always been central to my life. On Folly Beach, I donate my time to help maintain the Folly Civic Club, the Folly Beach Exchange Club, and the Folly Current websites.

I also continue to mentor a 7th-grade student at C.E. Williams Middle School. In the past, I served on the YMCA Board of Directors, where I was honored as Board Member of the Year, and volunteered for five years at the Greenville County Detention Center, leading life skills classes for incarcerated youth.

After earning my degree from Clemson University, I began my career in the textile sector with Milliken before joining my family’s chemical business. I had the privilege of working alongside my father for five years, and after his passing, I led the company for another five years before transitioning it to new ownership.

My professional path later shifted to information technology, where I specialized in designing database-driven solutions for both government agencies and private companies. Today, I develop innovative web and mobile applications for a diverse range of clients.
