Open Communication: A City Hall That Listens

Community Balance Livability

One of the most important responsibilities of local government is to ensure that residents feel heard, respected, and informed. On Folly Beach, communication is not just about sharing updates; it’s about building trust, creating opportunities for collaboration, and keeping our community connected.

As Mayor, I will make open communication a priority by taking clear, practical steps:

Better Tools

Residents deserve easy access to city information and a City Hall that listens. I will continue working with City staff as we upgrade the City’s website and online tools, making it easier for residents to find meeting agendas, track projects, and report concerns. These upgrades will also allow us to respond more quickly to community needs and ensure that every voice is heard.

Clearer Information

City decisions shouldn’t be buried in technical documents or written in confusing language. I will work with staff to make information easy to find and practical to use, so residents can make informed choices about their property and future, while staying aligned with the broader vision for Folly Beach.

To put this into practice, I will release a monthly bulletin that highlights City projects, explains potential impacts such as traffic or service changes, and provides residents with a clear view of what’s coming next.

Regular Office Hours

Leadership should be approachable. I will hold consistent office hours where residents can stop by, ask questions, or share concerns face-to-face. City Hall must be a place where people feel comfortable walking in and being heard.

Community Coffee Chats

Some of the best conversations happen outside of formal meetings. I will host monthly coffee chats where residents can meet in an informal setting to discuss the issues that matter most to them. These gatherings will help ensure every voice has a chance to shape our future.

Folly Beach thrives when residents are engaged, informed, and connected. By strengthening communication between City Hall and the community, we can make better decisions, solve problems faster, and build a stronger future together.
