One of the questions I hear most often when talking with neighbors, whether it’s at a community meeting, on the beach, or in the grocery store, is this: “Why do you think you should be my mayor?”
It’s a fair question and an important one. Choosing a mayor isn’t just about personality or politics. It’s about trust, leadership, and a vision for where we’re headed as a community.
I want to share my answer to that question by focusing on three things I believe Folly Beach needs in its next mayor: a proven problem solver, a strong communicator, and someone who can lead with balance and fairness.
Problem Solver
First, I’m a problem solver. I don’t just identify issues, I work to fix them. Whether it’s infrastructure, housing, or traffic, I dig into the data, listen to those affected, and bring forward real solutions that reflect the needs of our community.
Communicator
Second, I believe in open and honest communication. I show up, I listen, and I follow up. You deserve a mayor who keeps you informed and engaged every step of the way.
Balance
Third, I lead with balance. On Folly Beach, good leadership means listening to residents, businesses, and visitors. I pledge to continue working to find common ground that helps our community grow stronger together.
I’m not tied to real estate, tourism, or business interests, and that independence matters. It allows me to make decisions based on what’s best for the entire community. I approach every issue with objectivity, knowing that Folly’s long-term success depends on leadership that protects our quality of life, honors our history, and supports a local economy that works for everyone.
